Angst - Wantagh High School

Before The Greg Westhoff Foundation was officially established, the team fundraised money for the Michael Phelps Foundation in December 2021. “The Micheal Phelps Foundation values overcoming fears, facing adversity, and developing goals are valuable skill sets that transcend swimming.” This includes promoting the significance of physical and mental health.

With the help of the Michael Phelps Foundation, the team was able to host a viewing of the film "ANGST" by Impactful IndieFlix at Wantagh High School, Greg’s High School, the week of February 6th, 2023.

"ANGST" is a documentary film that focuses on the issue of teen anxiety and its effects on young people. The film provides a window into the lives of teens who struggle with anxiety and offers a message of hope and support to those who may be going through similar experiences. Through real-life stories and expert interviews, the film aims to shed light on the challenges facing today's youth and encourage open conversations about mental health.

The film was shown to the whole faculty and was made available throughout the week for students to watch in class or at home with their parents. Along with the film, IndieFlix provided a creative coping toolkit, which teaches students how to ground themselves and reconnect with the present moment through breathwork, meditation, and taking a mental step back.

By showing "ANGST" at Wantagh High School, we hope to kickstart a much-needed conversation around mental health. Our goal is to break down stigmas and encourage open and honest dialogue about this critical issue, ultimately promoting a safer, healthier, and more supportive community for all.

The Greg Westhoff Foundation thanks Wantagh High School and The Michael Phelps Foundation for making this all possible and allowing us to spread Mental Health awareness in the town Greg and the foundation team grew up in.
